Inx to build WiFi system for N.M. trains

Inx Inc. has received a $2.7 million contract from the New Mexico Department of Transportation to provide the state’s Rail Runner Train Wireless System.
Inx (NASDAQ: INXI) has already begun the project, and expects to be finished by mid-year.
New Mexico’s RailRunner train runs 95 miles from Belen through Albuquerque to Santa Fe.
The project provides free public wireless Internet access in all trains and stations to help the state meet a goal of improving traffic congestion during peak hours and to make public transportation service options more attractive to commuters.
The wireless network will be able to accommodate up to 1,000 simultaneous users, and will include fast access to data-intensive applications such as emergency phones, video displays in the trains and stations and video surveillance equipment.
